FACTORY BEATS
our love affair with factory conversions is a flame that burns hot. we like an old soul space with room for new tricks.
add in a client that’s a galleristo and the wall stars are sure to align. and if he’s an architect, things are going to get structural. a steel beam is usually the answer, so we expanded the living area for some low-key family time and fireside chats. an upholstered reading nook in the foyer and a few well-edited antiques temper the corrugated metal + industrialist fervor. boss marble bathrooms, mismatched chairs, natural light and textural nuances—she’s got it all.
and when cocktail hour strikes, enter a high-gloss, lacquered wet bar that pairs oh-so nicely with the vinyl on the record player. open-concept living likes to push back on privacy, so our resident dramatist schemed a solution for ring-stained dinner parties: a blackened steel glass door that morphs to opaque with the flip of a switch, keeping the kitchen chaos out of view.
so tuck the shorties into their play pods [sweet dreams included] and turn up the volume. or take it outside under the actual stars where cement and natural woods commingle across ah-ha moments + next-level lounging.
